Westofish – The Mission

For a long-time, I have enjoyed sharing knowledge! I stand by the quote “Knowledge is Power”, a quote commonly attributed to Sir Francis Bacon. Although there is no known occurrence of this precise phrase in Bacon’s English or Latin writings, the expression “ipsa scientia potestas est” (‘knowledge itself is power’) occurs in Bacon’s Meditationes Sacrae (1597).

However, I have put my own ‘Westo’ spin on it. “Knowledge is Power, but Useless if not Shared”! Throughout life we learn so much, we learn through personal experience or that passed through our parents, friends, mentors, teachers, or education resources i.e. books etc. Imagine all the knowledge learnt, since the beginning of time was bottled up, not taught, or scribed in ink, went to the grave with every individual. It would take a lifetime to gain the knowledge we get through the avenues mentioned above in a fraction of the time.

My Oldman gave me some wise advice as a young buck “you either learn the hard way or the easy way” life is an infinite circle of learning, mostly the hard way. Researching tirelessly, failing, and working dam hard at your goal is the yellow brick road to success. Sometimes we are gifted opportunities to shortcut, an avenue to learn quicker propelling you quicker up the ladder to succeeding in your goal (learning the easy way).

Success is a combination of talent and hard work. Talent is an inborn quality that gives you a smart way to achieve. Talent is futile unless you go for it! One should never sit on a couch and expect for a good result. Just because you have talent does not mean you can go on the water and slap bulk fish on the deck. “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

Westofish has been an evolution, an evolution of success through constant failure. I want to teach you, help, and guide you through knowledge I have gained through tireless hours on the water to shortcut your road to success.
